Although Ezra was able to rebuild the altar and the sanctuary after the captivity, Nehemiah gained the favor of the king and returned to Jerusalem to repair the walls and the gates that were burned down and lay in ruin. However, this undaunting task didn’t come without opposition.
Whenever there is opposition, two key things are present jealousy and a promise to be fulfilled.
The walls and gates were not just natural in nature but contained spiritual significance. Each gate was named and the repairer was chosen for the task. Nehemiah stayed the course unwaveringly and completed the task in record time.
