Esther, a Jewess Queen in a Persian Empire. We begin our study of Esther with an explanation regarding the transition from the Babylonian captivity to the Medes and the Persian reign.
This exegesis is a lesson of pride vs. humility. It’s the selfish pride of the prior queen, Vashti, that positions Esther to ascend to a place of honor, all because she refused to obey authority.
Kingdom protocols, the most overlook aspect preventing humanity from being reconciled to God. It’s good to know that we have a friend in Jesus, but it behooves us to remember who He Is and His position in the Kingdom. His title as Prince identifies Him as the Son of the KING. When Jesus says in John 10:30, “I and my Father are one” and John 14:9, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” He is not only speaking of the oneness of their identity but more importantly He is referring to His Authority. The same Authority that the Father has He possesses, it isn’t a separate authority but the same Authority, and to solidify this He said, “No man cometh unto the Father, But By Me.” (John 14:6). Throughout His ministry His Authority was displayed.
In the book of Esther, we read how a queen’s refusal to submit to the Kings Authority caused her to be banished, never to come before the King again. We also see “Pride Arise” in Haman as he was elevated in position by the King. It’s unfortunate but we often see pride arise when a person is promoted to a new position and the way to identify this self-promotion is their need for recognition which requires you to do only one thing and that’s to “BOW” to what they perceive to be a position of Authority. How quickly they forget just as it was given, it can be taken away.
“Pride goeth before destruction,
And an Haughty Spirit before a fall.”
Proverbs 16:18
Now to bow before a legitimate KING is a deep sign of respect not to the person but to the office they represent. However, in the case of Jesus, because He Is KING of Kings, bowing before Him is not only a sign of respect for who He Is but what He Represents (The KINGDOM OF GOD).
