Today we’ll focus on the book of Isaiah, which consists of 66 Books separated into two parts to better express how chapters 1-39 reflect the Old Testament and chapters 40-66 the New Testament. I was quite amazed to see the prophetic accounts of the coming Christ expressed through the Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah was a prophet, a chosen vessel, of God called to proclaim hidden messages to the kings of Judah. Now to prophesy is not prophecy in the sense that prophesy “sounds” or tells the vision, while prophecy “sees” or receives the vision directly from God. Prophesying relays the Prophecy that was revealed.
Don’t forget there are false prophets as well which attempt to prophesy in the name of the LORD, therefore we must “try the spirits whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1) and be not quick to seek out a prophet, diviner, or soothsayer who portray themselves as legitimate messengers of God “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)
