Our study of Job hinges on the following two scriptures of Self-Justification and Self-Righteousness: “Behold now, I have ordered my cause, I know that I shall be justified” (Job 13:18); and “So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.” (Job 32:1)
When we think that we are good, take heed that we deceive not ourselves for “there is none good but one, that is, God.” (Matthew 19:17; Mark 10:18)
Just as Job learns this lesson through the things that he suffers so likewise shall we.
“It is good for me that I have been afflicted;
That I might learn thy statutes.”
Psalm 119:71
Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7 will not be elaborated on in this study, however, it’s worth mentioning these key facts: Although Satan is “going to and fro in the earth” and “walking up and down in it” he not only needs permission from God but God is the only one who can place limitation regarding what is allowed and who Satan has permission to TRY. (Our lives are only in the enemies hands if we give it to him); another fact is Satan is not “omni”…he is not omnipresent, nor omnipotent, nor omniscient-therefore he has no power or authority at all…he fabricates his position, “there is no truth in him…he is a liar” (John 8:44); he doesn’t know anything…he has no knowledge at all; and he is not everywhere at once…he puffs himself up based on false claims that he has the ability to attack so many at once…he operates through spiritual wickedness and the children of darkness which are his. Remember this important fact before giving the enemy any credit “every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:14-15) Note: Lust is an intense craving or overpowering desire that satisfies the flesh.
