As we study the word of God, we focus on the duties of the Levites, the chosen priests, who were commanded to perform daily sacrifices as a foreshadowing of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
Our life’s purpose is often aligned with God’s plan for humanity’s reconciliation.
The Levites sacrificed the blood of lambs and goats but now we are to become the daily sacrifice according to Romans 12:1: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
Our lives are daily reminders of the redemptive work of God through humanity. Each offering was made by fire representing the need for daily purification. Hebrews 13:15 admonishes us to “offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

“…Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)
